New Year, New Life
Happ New Year! Have you made any new year's resolutions? Looking back at the past year, we always feel we didn't do as good as we're supposed to: not studying hard enough, working hard enough, have not treated families and friends well enough, etc. And we always hope things will be better in the year ahead.
However, no matter how hard we have tried, there are things we can't change. The Bible tells us that: “For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—“ (Romans 7:18-19). Many times we don't do what we should do, but do what we shouldn't do. Why? It's because we all have sinful nature. More seriously, “… the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Sins result in our spiritual death, and it broke our relationships with the loving God, our heavenly Father.
But God loves us so much that He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. He took our punishments and saved us from eternal death. He also gives us a new life that’s free from sinful nature. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone; the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) Only with Jesus's help can we truly start over and live a victorious life.
Dear friend, do you want to receive this new life today? Please pray now,”Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for my sins and saving me from eternal death. Please forgive all my sins and come into my heart to be my Saviour and Lord. Help me live a life that is pleasing to you. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”
