Redeeming the time

"Redeeming the time, because the days are evil." Ephesians 5:16 We all know that time is precious, but many times we do waste much of our time. Ever since the smartphones and touch screen computers were invented, we spent even more time on internet browsing and games playing.

One of the reasons the Bible warns us to "redeem the time" is "time" is God's gift. It's precious and limited. If we waste our time on repeatedly doing things that have no eternal values, we'll regret one day.

Another reason for cherishing time is "because the days are evil". What does this mean? The Bible tells us that the closer the end time is, the more evil the people are. Things the world used to condemn, they're now legalized; things we used to be ashamed of, we now accept. If you look at the news today, you'll agree that the world is full of wickedness.

In my childhood, I used to live in a friendly and caring neighborhood that there was no need to close the door during daytime. But look at today, scams are everywhere and we have no choice but be extra alert. God's judgement day is getting near. How should we redeem the time then?

The Bible says, "Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon."

Another meaning for "redeeming the time" is "grasping the opportunity". We should grasp the opportunity in our remaining years to quickly seek the Lord, call upon Him and return to Him. So He can have mercy on us and forgive all our sins and transgressions. In more than two thousand years ago, God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. He loves and cares about you.

If you are willing to repent and receive Him, please pray with a sincere heart now, "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me and dying on the cross for my sins. I admit that I am a sinner. Please forgive and cleanse all my sins. Enter into my heart to be my Savior and Lord. Lead me in the roads ahead. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."
